The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Warwick this weekend as strong winds are predicted.

The warning - which covers the Midlands, Wales and much of the North West - is in place from 3pm today (December 5) until 6am on Sunday.

The Met Office said Storm Darragh will bring "very strong winds" and heavy rain across the country.

Meteorologists have warned there there is a "slight chance" of some damage to buildings.

"It is likely that some roads and bridges could close, with impacts from falling trees," the warning added.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage."

Chief forecaster Jason Kelly said: “Storm Darragh is an evolving system and will bring several hazards, including wind gusts of up to 70-80mph around western coasts, especially from Devon and Cornwall to southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.

"Wind speeds in inland areas will be slightly reduced with maximum gusts expected to reach 60-70mph.”
