A Warwick fast food eatery has welcomed news it will be allowed to keep its 24/7 opening hours.

Warwick District Council's planning committee last week rubber stamped the extended opening for McDonald's on Emscote Road after a one-year trial.

Some locals had objected, but with Warwickshire Police and Environmental Health having no issues with the permanent change, the timings were signed off.

The business said it is meeting requests from a range of customers who work anti-social hours, including blue light staff and shift workers.

After the decision, owner Dawood Ibtehsam said: "Obviously we're pleased with the decision regarding our planning application as it will not only help us ensure the sustainability of our business, but allow us to serve those members of the community who work anti-social hours.

"We have always put community at the heart of what we do, which is why we undertook this extension of business hours in a staged way in order to ensure we made a positive impact.

"This remains our priority and we will be doing everything we can to limit any potential issues relating to extended opening hours."
