An M40 exit slip road will not reopen until tomorrow after a cement mixer overturned and poured its load over the road surface.

Emergency services were called to the southbound exit at junction 12 of the M40, Gaydon, at around 1pm this afternoon.

The slip will not be usable until tomorrow at the earliest as the crash barriers need to be repaired and the road resurfaced.

A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "J12 southbound exit slip will be closed until tomorrow at the earliest, this is for barrier repair and road resurfacing.

"A cement mixer has overturned damaging the barrier and shed its load onto the motorway."
