A lorry driver has been charged after being arrested for drunk driving.

Warwickshire Police intercepted the HGV at Warwick Services after receiving reports it was swerving across all the lanes on the M40.

Sandeep Khakh, a 38-year-old man from Waltham Gardens, Banbury has been charged with driving while over the legal limit for alcohol.

He will appear in Warwickshire Magistrates Court on 22 January 2025.

"He was arrested and was taken to custody where he gave his evidential samples, he was found to be well over three times the legal limit with a lower reading of 119," a force statement said.

"This incident is truly shocking, the consequences of driving in that state don't even bear thinking about."

The driver was stopped and arrested at Warwick Services at 1:07pm, and later a breathalyser test showed a reading of over three times the legal limit at 119.
