Hoardings to be installed around former Aldi ahead of demolition

Hoardings are set to be installed around the former Aldi store to the south of Warwick and Leamington Spa as plans to turn it into a storage facility get underway.
Big Yellow Storage has been given planning permission to convert the former Queensway supermarket into a major new storage centre.
The supermarket - which is currently just surrounded by metal fencing - has been shut since Aldi opened a new store just down the road.
And now Warwick District Council has signed off on plans for 2.4 metre high wooden hoardings to be installed around the boundary of the site before the renovations get underway.
Signing off on the hoardings, a council report said: "I am satisfied that the proposed hoardings do not have any harm to the visual appearance or character of the area and the use of hoardings is a common feature of development sites.
"I am also satisfied that public and highway safety would not be impacted by the proposed development."
The scheme will see the former Aldi shop demolished to make way for 7,590m² of storage space.
Designs were refined during the planning process to include a 'feature green wall' to break up the appearance of the building.
In its application for the hoardings, Big Yellow Storage said: "The proposed hoarding will secure the application site while alternative redevelopment proposals move through the planning process.
The hoarding is minimalist in its appearance and its colour will blend into the surrounding landscaping and will therefore not result in any detrimental visual impact on the wider site or adjoining area[…].
"Furthermore, the hoarding is temporary only and it will not result in a long term or permanent impact upon the street scene."
