Green light to turn historic villa back into care home

Council planners have given the green light to turn a Victorian Villa back into a care home.
Warwick District Council has granted planning permission for Clarence House on Warwick New Road to become a 21-bed residential facility.
The building had previously been a care home until being turned into a 23-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO) in 2016.
Built in 1892 the house has previously been extended at the back, but this latest scheme will not see any external alterations to the property.
Applicant Westgrove House Ltd's new plans will also see the number of parking spaces will be increased from six to nine, and an ambulance parking bay will also be included.
"We believe the proposals are a well-considered, quality addition to this area of Leamington Spa," the application said.
"The proposals follow the principles of the local design guide and planning policy documents.
"It is sympathetic to the scale and proportions of the development site."
Signing off on the plans, a council report said: "The proposal provides an acceptable standard of living for the future residents, provides adequate provision for parking and would not lead to a material increase in traffic movements above and beyond the existing lawful uses on site.
"The proposed use is acceptable in principle, and it is therefore considered that the proposal is in accordance with the aforementioned policies and recommended for approval."
