District planners have signed off on a scheme to turn a Warwick bed and breakfast into residential flats.

Jersey Villa Guest House on Emscote Road and the neighbouring property can now be converted into six flats, after a planning application was signed off by Warwick District Council.

The application said small extensions will be made to both buildings to create two one-bed, two two-bed, a single three-bed and a single four-bed flats.

A previous application for an extension was approved but never carried out.

"The proposed apartments would provide a mix of housing to meet the needs of different age groups and occupiers," the application said.

"Furthermore, the proposed size and layout of the apartments would afford an acceptable standard of amenity for future occupiers."

Signing off on the application, a council report said: "In the opinion of the local planning authority, the proposal is acceptable in principle and of an acceptable standard of design which would not cause unacceptable harm to the conservation area and surrounding streetscene.

"The proposal will not result in an unacceptable adverse impact on the amenity of neighbouring uses by reason of overbearing effect, loss of light or privacy.

"There is also an acceptable impact on the amenity of future occupiers."
