Further eight potential new housing sites around Warwick put forward for new local plan
A further eight sites for potential new housing developments around Warwick have been suggested to the local councils.
The plots have been put forward as part of the second 'call for sites' for the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP).
Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils had already asked locals to suggest areas for development in 2021.
Published in January 2022, the first set of results outlined some 555 possible sites for new housing across the region and included an initial 10 potential new housing around around Warwick.
However, the councils said more sites were needed, and launched a second consultation.
The results of the second call for sites have now been published, with a number of sites on the outskirts of Warwick identified for development.
These include another site on Birmingham Road in Hatton as well as two sites in Barford.
Two more major plots have also been identified along Europa Way.
The councils have also published feedback from the delayed issues and options consultation, which asked locals for their views on priorities for the region going forward.
The local authorities are now analysing the results of the consultation and the suitability for the suggested sites.
A statement from the council said: "We ran a second call for sites undertaken concurrently with the issues and options consultation and these submissions have also been published on the South Warwickshire Local Plan interactive map alongside the earlier call for sites
"Please note: these sites are presented for information at this stage and have not yet been assessed as to their suitability for inclusion within the plan nor are they endorsed.
"The councils are now looking at the suitability of sites for inclusion within the Plan and are undertaking a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment in order to begin to assess their suitability."
The plan, which has been in the works since early 2021, was expected to be implemented in 2025.
Councillors have said it could see as many as 35,000 new houses built across the region, and could feature a brand new settlement.
A revised timetable for the plan is now expected this autumn, with details of the next stages.
All the sites across Warwick and Stratford districts can be seen in an interactive map on the SWLP website.
