A former car sales office in Warwick could be demolished and turned into two apartments if Warwick District Council approves the plans.

An application has been submitted by M Tec (Warwickshire) Ltd for the former H&S Car Shop on Emscote Road.

Whilst planning permission has already been granted for the shop to be demolished and replaced with a two-storey office, M Tec said the impact of the pandemic meant an office no longer made commercial sense.

"With the impact of Covid and the rise in home-working it is evident that the speculative office market is moribund and that some other form of financially viable use needs to be found for the site of the former sales building," the application form stated.

Adding that two new two-bed apartments were a "highly sustainable form of development".

Work began on the showroom in November 2020.

Four car parking spaces would also be built as part of the scheme.

A car wash in the same forecourt was demolished earlier this year, and planning approval has already been granted for nine dwellings next to the car sales office.

A planning application, separate to that of the car sales office, has also been submitted to move the access for the area to All Saints Road.
