Flood alert raised for River Avon

A flood alert has been raised for the River Avon in South Warwickshire today (November 14).

The Environment Agency raised the alert at 10.24am following continued heavy rain as Storm Claudia hits the UK.

The alert warns "high river levels today may lead to flooding".

It said: "Flooding may affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Avon between Rugby and Bidford including Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, caravan parks and farmland. 

"We are closely monitoring the situation . 

"Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water."

An amber weather warning has also been issued by the Met Office.

Flood alerts have been issued for the Rivers Leam and Itchen in Leamington Spa and Canley and Finham Brook in Kenilworth.

Meanwhile a flood warning has been issued for Gog Brook.

It says: "Flooding is expected from the afternoon of 14 November 2025 . 

"Flooding may affect properties and roads around Lodge Crescent. 

"We are closely monitoring the situation . 

"Start acting on your flood plan if you have one . Don't put yourself or others at risk."
