The owner of a new rage room in Heathcote has been "amazed" at the positive response from locals, just six weeks after opening.

Rage Rooms Leamington Spa was opened by Lucy Bee at the start of July, at the Space Business Centre on Plato Close.

Subconscious trauma therapist Lucy was first inspired to open the business after seeing a programme on Netflix, and says it has already been a big success in providing real emotional relief to customers.

"I wanted something local and something in the community," she explained.

"Being an online coach and therapist, I had a real yearning to do something tangible.

"I had the idea years ago about doing a rage room after seeing an American TV show, it has been in the back of my head for a couple of years.

"And then I got the call to do it in May this year and by the middle of June we were taking orders already."

Mother-of-three, Lucy has also had a lot of experience working with other therapists to launch new businesses, and said she had a very clear idea of what she wanted to achieve in Leamington.

After looking at a few units locally, she decided to set up at Space, taking just a week to turn the empty shell into a fully functioning rage room.

"I already knew how I wanted it to be built, I had done loads of research," she added.

"I knew the best way to get it built.

"And then I got lucky with an amazing carpenter who took my design and built it. In a week we had it done!"

Rage Rooms Leamington Spa is different to other locations, in that there is only one room at the site, allowing guests to have a more "intimate" and "personal" experience.

The room can be booked by groups, with a small seating area on site allowing people to swap in and out of the room, which is big enough for two people at a time.

And already it has been very popular with a range of customers, with a variety of reasons for wanting to use it.

"It is very personal as an experience," Lucy explained.

"Some people come because they haven't got anywhere to let go.

"We have a lot of mums coming in, who like to come here because it is a safe space and they have a lot of pressure on them.

"People are struggling, and as a therapist you see that, and that is one of the reasons I wanted to set this up, because people are struggling but they don't necessarily want to dig deep into it, they just want to let go of this suppressed emotion.

"They leave feeling lighter and better!"

Rage Rooms Leamington Spa offers a range of experiences for guests, with Lucy eager to tailor the visit to the individual.

People can choose their weapon, what they want to smash, and can even bring their own music to play.

Guests are also supplied with pens so they can write on what they destroy.

And after just six weeks in business, Lucy has been delighted with the response from customers.

"It has been fantastic, we couldn't have asked for a better response really, it has been amazing," she said.

"It has been amazing, people have been really supportive and people have been getting a lot out of it.

"It has been a great first six weeks of business."

A discount is also being offered to emergency service workers and teachers, many of whom have already been to use the rage room.
