Demolition of garages block at Warwick car park begins

Work has begun on the demolition of a garage block in a car park in Warwick, which has 'fallen into disrepair.'
The garages located at Priory Road car park in Warwick are being demolished to facilitate the creation of additional parking spaces.
Warwick District Council applied to knock down the garage block near the exit of the Priory Road car park, stating: "The garages have fallen into a state of disrepair and are not considered to contribute architecturally or historically to the conservation area or to the district in general."

In the planning application, which was approved in early August, WDC concluded: "The proposed development is not considered to result in a detrimental impact on the heritage assets.
"The proposals are also considered to have an acceptable impact on neighbouring residential amenity, nor protected species. Therefore, the application is recommended for approval."

The new plans include the provision of parking bays accessible for disabled drivers, as well as spaces for bicycle parking.
During the demolition process, there will be a temporary reduction in the number of available parking spaces to accommodate the necessary work.
