A Warwick councillor has called for an update on when new bins will be installed in the town centre over a year after first raising the issue.

Last summer Cllr Katya Dray asked Warwick District Council for the bins in Warwick's centre following multiple complaints about rubbish and littering.

Speaking last year the Labour councillor said the problem was particularly exacerbated during the summer and while there were concerts at the castle.

Last week she asked for an update.

In response, portfolio holder for neighbourhood, Cllr Will Roberts, said a number of issues had slowed the project but said 20 new bins are due to be added through the 'Recycling on the Go' scheme.

"It has taken a bit longer than we want to," he admitted.

"There are many reasons for that including resourcing.

"Recycling on the Go is coming forward."

The bins are hoped to be installed in the new year.
