The death of a woman found in the River Avon behind the Saxon Mill is not being treated as suspicious by police.

Officers were called to the Coventry Road pub on Saturday evening after reports that the woman - thought to be in her 60s - had fallen into the river.

Emergency services found the body of the woman a short while later near the pub.

Warwickshire Police had kept screens up on site and were appealing for information from the public whilst the death was being treated as unexplained.

But the force has today issued an update.

"Following enquiries we can confirm that we are not treating the death as suspicious," a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said.

"Our thoughts remain with the woman's family and friends at this challenging time."

Her next of kin has been informed and specially trained officers are supporting her family.
