Councillors will be given the final decision on whether to grant permission for a two-day festival at Warwick's St Nicholas Park.

New Vision Events Limited has put forward a licence application to Warwick District Council, seeking permission to host an outdoor event at the park at some point between May and September.

Plans show the licence would allow alcohol to be served at St Nick's from 12noon to 10.30pm on both the Friday and Saturday.

However, an objection has been submitted to the application by Myton Road Residents Association, and as such the application must now go before the licensing and regulatory panel next Tuesday (April 2).

A number of issues were raised by the group, including anti-social behaviour and parking.

"The event is likely to generate excessive noise, disrupting the peace and tranquillity of the park," the objection said.

"As local residents, we value the serene environment that the park provides, and we are concerned that amplified music, loudspeakers, and other noise sources will disturb both residents and wildlife."

The objection - penned by Jonny DeVine - added: "I specifically object to the sale of alcohol during the event.

"Alcohol consumption can contribute to disorderly conduct, aggression, and potential harm to both attendees and the park itself.

"It is essential to maintain a family‐friendly atmosphere and discourage excessive drinking."The application does not specify which weekend the festival would be, but says: "As soon as agreement has been made with the local park's authority for the date of the event, all responsible authorities as defined within the Licensing Act 2003 will be notified of the event dates and timings.

"Notification will also include a brief synopsis of the planned event."

On its website, New Vision describes itself as a "forward thinking" events company which specialises in "large scale music festivals, concerts & shows".

A similar application was granted for the park in 2023, with local residents unsuccessful in objecting to the licence.
