The driver of a car which ended up on its side after a crash in Warwick has been arrested for drunk driving.

Police arrested the man after the incident on Wharf Street on Saturday evening (August 15).

A force statement said: "Officers from the neighbourhood team attended a road traffic collision on Wharf Street [Saturday] evening, the driver of the below vehicle decided it was a good idea to drive the vehicle whilst intoxicated, as you can see, it wasn't.

"Both occupants of the vehicle were subject to a roadside breath test, and both failed the test.

"They were both arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit and have both been bailed to allow for blood results to return from the lab.

"The fatal four includes drink/drug driving and is one of the biggest factors in serious and fatal collisions, make the right choice before you decide to start the engine after you have had alcohol."
