Boats damaged as vandals throw scaffolding and blocks of stone off Warwick bridge

A number of boats were damaged in Warwick last week after blocks of stone and scaffolding poles were thrown off a bridge into the River Avon.

Warwickshire Police is appealing for information following the criminal damage incident which is believed to have taken place between 6pm on Monday 17 March and around midday on Tuesday 18 March.

The poles and bricks were thrown off Castle Bridge where there is currently on restoration project underway.

"It's believed several blocks of stone and scaffolding poles were thrown off the A425 Castle Bridge," a force statement said.

"Significant damage was caused to several boats underneath.

"CCTV footage has been obtained and is currently being reviewed.

"Enquiries are now ongoing to identify locate those responsible, and we would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage during these times to please contact us.

"Any information can be given to Sgt Paul Farell by calling 101, reporting incident number 181 of 18 March 2025."
