Plans to reduce the speed limit on Hatton roads to 20mph have been revealed by Warwickshire County Council.

The local authority has approved the changes which it says were requested by Hatton Green Parish Council.

The scheme will see 20mph speed limits enforced on:

  • Starmer Place - From its most northern point, in its entirety from its junction with The Green.
  • Starmer Place - From its most southerly point, in its entirety from its junction with The Green.
  • The Green - From a point 53 metres southwest of its junction with Birmingham Road to a point 43 metres northwest of its junction with Hockley Road, a total of 404 metres.

Plans will also see a 40mph limit introduced on The Green from its junction with Birmingham Road for 53 metres.

A council report said: "The reduced speed limit will help improve the environment for vulnerable road users, such as wheelchair users, horse riders, pedestrians and pedal cyclists where there are no footpaths.

"The village has a church and a primary school which is used by residents and visitors to Hatton Green. Motorists will be travelling at a slower speed, and therefore more aware of safety issues when driving through the village." (Header image by David Stowell via geograph.org.uk)
