Nub News has teamed up with Scratch Cook Social in Leamington to offer readers the exclusive chance to win a fine dining five-course taster menu experience for two worth £130.

Scratch Cook Social offers bespoke private fine dining experiences and catering, for small groups, working with each client to tailor a menu that suits their specific requirements and dietary needs, but always steeped in traditional Indian flavours.

Having grown up as a second generation Indian immigrant in London, Raesh Darji established Scratch Cook Social in January this year after walking away from a corporate career following a period of reflection.

This pivot into the food space was borne out of his passion for creating exciting and tasty British-Indian cuisine, drawing on his experiences of living and working around the globe, while always acknowledging a deep appreciation and respect for his Indian heritage.

As well as catering for events and special occasions, his culinary skills are also on display at regular pop-up events hosted by Café Desa in Regent Grove, Leamington, including, coming up, a five-course Winter Tasting Menu on November 29.

Raj said: "Cooking from scratch is at the heart of everything we do, aiming to elevate recipes to excite and delight the senses.

"The winter reminds me of cold nights in and comforting food to warm the body and soul! Two of the items on the Winter Warmer Menu take me back to my mum's Gujarati cooking style and dishes which never failed to please; the Ondwho and Dal are both my versions of her generations-old recipes.

"As with all of my dishes, I like to add a twist to traditional and well-known items like the Gnocchi and the Pie, the latter of which won me the Aubrey Allen Home Cook of the Year Award in 2022. It's made from masala-infused shoulder of West Country lamb, slow cooked for four hours before being finished with a herby fluffy mash.

"And some things just don't need to be messed with, so we finished the meal with a straight up Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding, yum!"

Building on the early success of Scratch Cook Social's private dining and catering, the self-taught chef has also added a fun and immersive Spice Blending Team Building Experience to his menu of services.

In the three-hour workshop, popular with both private and corporate groups, Raj leads the group on a journey of spice exploration, inviting teams of tasters to explore the qualities of nine different spices and experiment with blending.
