A journey through the landscapes and moods of England, past and present with Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending.

Guitarist Mark Ashford joins us to celebrate the start of our new season at St Nicholas Church, Warwick.

Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending and Holst's vibrant Brook Green Suite capture the spaciousness and vitality of the English musical imagination, while music by Elgar, Purcell and Britten reflects earlier strands of the tradition.

Songs by Nick Drake and Sting sit naturally alongside folk melodies such as Early One Morning and Scarborough Fair, their lyricism sharing the same sense of place and quiet contemplation.
