Saturday 31 January
Welcome the first whisper of spring with a winter spectacle that garden lovers wait all year for. Snowdrop Weekend returns to Hill Close Gardens, Warwick, inviting you to wander through a rare living tapestry of over 130 snowdrop varieties scattered across 16 beautifully restored Victorian gardens.
A winter garden like no other: See Hill Close Gardens in its most atmospheric season, when frost-kissed paths lead to drifts of snowdrops glowing against the winter earth. These delicate blooms are nature's early promise, and here they tell a story rooted in centuries of horticultural passion.
Meet a local legend: 'Warwickshire Gemini': One of the stars of the weekend is the much-loved Galanthus 'Warwickshire Gemini', a snowdrop with a twist. Often producing two elegant flowers per bulb, this local cultivar is a favourite among collectors and a shining example of the Gardens' dedication to preserving rare and heritage plants.
Step back into Victorian Warwick: Hill Close Gardens is a unique survival of 19th-century detached gardens, each enclosed by hedges and dotted with historic summerhouses. Once private retreats for townspeople, they now offer visitors a peaceful journey through time, blending history, horticulture, and quiet beauty.
Take a little spring home with you: Browse and purchase selected snowdrop varieties from our plant sales and bring these early bloomers into your own garden.
Make a day of it: Warm up in the tearoom, visit the plant nursery, and enjoy the calm of this hidden green oasis just moments from Warwick Racecourse.
