Children from a Warwickshire primary school have helped design a monument for a new housing development near Gaydon.
Pupils from Lighthorne Heath Primary School took part in the 'Design a Monument' Competition run by Taylor Wimpey, David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes.
The consortium is currently building 650 new homes in Upper Lighthorne and plans to build a monument on site to celebrate the local significance of the RAF Gaydon site.
Representatives of all three companies visited the primary school earlier this month and gifted boxes of Lego during an interactive workshop.
Pupils were encouraged to think what their community history means to them, then build or draw a monument design.
The local parish, as well as the housebuilders, are now taking time to review the 66 entries before announcing the winner and commissioning the monument design.
Jill Manley, Headteacher at Lighthorne Heath Primary School, said: "We'd like to say a massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for this exciting opportunity.
"The housebuilder's monument competition was not only a great way of getting the pupils creative, but also a fantastic way to engage the children in local history too.
"The children really enjoyed building and drawing their designs."
Ben Walker, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands, added: "With Taylor Wimpey building homes in the local area, it's important for us to take an interest and learn about the different things in Lighthorne that make it so special for its residents.
"The monument competition was a good way for us to find this out and we look forward to displaying the winning design at Valiant Fields for the community to enjoy.
"We'd like to thank everyone at Lighthorne Heath Primary School for taking part in our competition. We look forward to working together again in the future."
The Upper Lighthorne development will include a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom houses, and feature a variety of shops and amenities including a doctors surgery and community centre.
