Looking for somewhere for a cosy Christmas meal? Then look no further than the Fleur de Lys in Lowsonford.

Such a hit in the summer with its huge outdoor seating area, the popular community pub proved it can deliver in all seasons with its excellent new festive menu.

Running alongside a much bigger winter menu, the Christmas offering is packed with festive treats, and at great value.

Our meal started off with a very drinkable pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord - one of a number of great beer options - and a special Christmas cocktail of Jack Daniels, raspberry lemonade and fresh raspberries. The latter was a lovely mix of sweet and bitter - a real winter warmer.

For starters we shared the prawn cocktail - served with fresh mango and pomegranate - and the bacon and cheddar crostini topped with parma ham, figs and mint.

Both wonderfully light preambles for the mains that were to come.

One on side of the table they were followed with one of the Fleur's signature pies (also available to take home for £6) in the festive turkey pie. Filled with turkey, ham, sage and onion stuffing, pigs in blankets and gravy all wrapped in wonderfully flakey and salty pastry, this was an absolute winner.

Also served with fantastic homemade chips which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - what more could you want!

Meanwhile on the other side was the fantastically tender roast pheasant breast. Served with dauphinoise potatoes (not too creamy!), seasonable veg and a generous helping of wonderfully rich gravy, I have not had a better roast dinner anywhere in Warwickshire. And the added extra of a few blackberries in the gravy was a lovely little twist at the end!

For desert (with what space we had left) was the warm red velvet brownie - oozing with rich chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream.

This as well as the dark chocolate and caramel tort which was a lovely mix of rich chocolate, snapping shortcrust pastry and lovely salty caramel! Alongside a spoonful of honeycomb ice cream for that added sweetness. A wonderful end to a lovely meal.

And priced at £35pp for three course, it really did strike me as good value.

We were also well looked after by the Fleur team and seated in a comfortable booth in the bar area.

Simply put, it was a lovely way to kickstart out Christmas.
