Warwick's upcoming Saturday market has been cancelled due to the strong winds forecast for the weekend.

The April 6 event has been called off alongside other markets in Rugby, Solihull and Lichfield by operator CJ's Events Warwickshire.

The Warwick-based company said it "regrets" the cancellation but said it was the right call given there are winds of up to 43mph predicted.

Jamie Walker of CJ's Events Warwickshire said: "The safety and well-being of our traders, visitors, and staff are of utmost importance to us.

"After careful consideration and in consultation with relevant authorities, it has been deemed necessary to cancel these Markets to prevent any potential risks associated with the forecasted weather conditions.

"We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely apologise for any disruption to your plans. We assure you that this decision was made with the best interests of all involved in mind."
