A Warwick Thai restaurant has applied for permission to keep its outside seating for another 12 months.

Giggling Squid, on High Street, has applied for a pavement licence from Warwick District Council.

If approved, the application would allow the family-run chain to keep its four tables and 16 chairs in place along Castle Street.

The application says this will have no impact on the rest of the street as it is pedestrianised.

It also says the tables would be in use from 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 12noon until 8pm on Sundays.

New laws on pavement licences were brought into effect in the summer of 2020 to make it easier for businesses to apply for permission to put furniture outside during the pandemic.

Residents can have their say on the application, here.

The news comes just days after Wetherspoon was granted permission to keep its 27 external tables and 108 chairs outside the Thomas Lloyd in Market Place.
