Warwick Rotary Club is "delighted" with the large turnout at the annual Thai festival last weekend as thousands of people from across the Midlands to the town for the community event.

Partners Magic of Thailand managed the event, bringing all the artists and stalls to Warwick Racecourse.

Rain showers across the weekend did not dampen the mood, as guests moved to the grandstands to continue watching the dancing, Thai boxing and Lady Boys while sampling a wide range of Thai foods.

Prayers and blessings by Buddhist Monks added to the atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Mayor of Warwick Cllr Oliver Jacques opened proceedings on Saturday, introduced by Rotary President Alan Bailey, and welcomed visitors to Warwick.

Clothing sold well and spices and foodstuffs did a busy trade as the opportunity was taken to stock up.

The club said it is grateful to; Warwick Racecourse which provided the facilities; the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts parked the cars for two days receiving donations for their funds; and WARKSAR which provided first aid support.

With sponsorship from Startin Kia - which brought some cars to view - and Warwick Castle, the club hopes to have raised the funds to continue its charitable work.

President Alan Bailey said: "Warwick Rotary has worked with the Thai people since the Tsunami in 2004 when it started an annual festival of culture and food to raise money to help orphans.

"We have stayed in touch over the years and recently sent aid to Thailand during the pandemic.

"It was good to be able to meet up again and it was clear that England and Thailand were having a great time in Warwick this weekend as no-one wanted to go home!"
