Plans to build a two-storey carpark at Telent's offices off Haywood Road have been signed off by the district council.

Despite objections from neighbours, Warwick District Council's planning committee yesterday (February 28) unanimously approved the new structure, which will provide 163 extra spaces.

Telent said it needed more spaces for its expanding workforce, with the project set to see two more decks of parking built above 81 existing spaces.

Similar plans had previously been given the go-ahead by the district council.

Nine objections were put forward against the scheme, raising concerns about disturbance to neighbours as well as privacy.

But development services manager Gary Fisher explained: "The report sets out the distance between residential properties and this structure which is in the order of about 80 metres.

"It is well in excess of what you would look for separation between houses.

"I feel that is acceptable, I think it would be very difficult to raise an issue of overlooking."

Telent is also set to refurbish its Warwick offices to improve "energy sustainability, become fossil free and improve the wellbeing resources for all employees" with a new reception and café area.

A separate planning application for this is yet to be considered by the council.
