Warwick school announces no sixth form intake for 2025-26 academic year

Pupils receiving their GCSE results at Aylesford School in Warwick today will not be able to stay at the school for further studies.
The Tapping Way school confirmed today (August 21) it will not have a year 12 intake for the 2025-26 academic year due to a lack of applications.
An update from headteacher Peter Gilbride said nearby Myton School had been "incredibly supportive" in helping find sixth form places for current students.
Current year 12 pupils moving into year 13 next year will not be impacted.
The statement said: "Unfortunately, due to a lack applications to our Sixth Form, we have taken the difficult decision to pause recruitment of our Year 12 cohort for 2025-26.
"We are in talks with Myton School, who have been incredibly supportive, and they will be offering many of our Year 11 pupils' courses for further study.
"Our current Year 12 cohort, commencing Year 13 in September 2025 will be unaffected. Over the next year, we will relaunch and rebrand our Sixth Form in the hope of being able to run a viable Sixth Form in the future.
"If you have any questions, please contact the school office."
On its actual results, the school congratulated the "resilience" displayed by students.
"Particular praise" was given to Malika Mia, Jasnoor Kaur, Ananya Chowdhury, Muhammed Rashid, Iona Mannell, and Isolde Newton.
"These outstanding pupils all performed to the highest standard, achieving 33 Grade 8s and 9s between them — a truly remarkable accomplishment," the school said.
"Mia distinguished herself by achieving exclusively Grade 8s and 9s, a testament to her unwavering ambition, her resilience in the face of every challenge, and the kindness shown by her teachers and peers in supporting her journey."
