Warwick School 'extremely proud' as students celebrate A Level results
Warwick School has said it is "extremely proud" of its students as they received their A Level results today (August 17).
Nearly 90 per cent of pupils received a place at university of their choosing, with 92 per cent going to Russell Group or highly selective universities.
The school also has nine students heading to Oxbridge.
Head master, James Barker, said: "Huge congratulations are in order for all our Upper Sixth pupils.
"The last few years have been extremely challenging for them - academically, socially, and emotionally."
For most students this was the first set of public exams they had sat, with their GCSE's being disrupted by Covid-19.
Nationally the proportion of A or A* grades is 27.2 per cent which is down from a peak of 44.4 per cent during the pandemic.
UCAS said 79 per cent of students received a place at their first choice university.
Foundation principal, Richard Nicholson added: "I am immensely proud of the achievements of all of our foundation pupils today.
"Having missed out on sitting their GCSEs in the usual way, this cohort has shown determination and resilience and can now reflect on their exceptional achievements.
"They have an impressive launching pad for their future endeavours, and to make the most of all the opportunities beyond our schools.
"However, they could not have done this without expert staff and the support of their families. It is truly a whole community celebration."
