Members and friends of the Rotary Club of Warwick gathered last week to mark the club's 60th anniversary since it was first chartered.

The celebratory dinner, held at Guys Cliffe House, was attended by several dignitaries including Rotary District Governor Jonathon Wilding, Warwick Mayor Cllr Jackie D'Arcy.

Also in attendance were presidents of local clubs from Leamington Spa, Stratford, Coventry, and Warwick Lions. Past members and friends of the club.

During the evening, the Mayor presented a certificate of gratitude from the Town Council, acknowledging the club's sixty years of impactful contributions to the Warwick community, where it has truly "Made a Difference".

Attendees fondly shared stories of the club's rich history and notable figures, reminiscing about organising decades-long events such as fifty years of Carols at the Castle, forty years of Bonfires, and over twenty years of Thai Festivals.

Together, these events have successfully raised millions for both local and international charities.

The evening also included recollections of international collaboration, such as visits from partners in India contributing to the "End Polio" campaign, a challenge embarked upon thirty years ago which is nearing completion.

This year saw a renewed friendship with Warwick, Virginia and the USA.

Other ties were highlighted with Bo in Sierra Leone, children from Chernobyl, students from Brazil, and exchanges to Hawaii and beyond, underscoring the Rotary's global community spirit.

As the festivities drew to a close, the final toast of "Rotary and Peace the World over" resonated profoundly amid ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

President Jon Wassall expressed his gratitude for the continued support and camaraderie, looking forward optimistically to the next decade.
