A four day weekend has been announced to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Kenilworth residents can now apply for temporary road closures to host street parties for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this summer.

Warwick District Council is also offering grants of £250 to £1,000 to registered community organisations to pay for bunting, signage and decorations for parties across the four-day weekend.

But residents wishing to host their own smaller events between Thursday June, 2 to Sunday 5 can apply to WDC for a road closure.

Council leader Cllr Andrew Day said: "Her Majesty the Queen has selflessly served the country and the Commonwealth for an incredible 70 years of her life.

"This unique moment in history is worthy of a fantastic celebration, and I'm delighted that the council can offer its help and support to ensure that our residents can come together and celebrate, particularly after what has been a difficult couple of years."

For information on street parties and to make an application to close a road, visit the WDC website here.

Applications for the Jubilee weekend should be made by Wednesday 20 April.
