Staff at a Warwick pub have held their own Commonwealth Games-inspired fun day as Birmingham 2022 gets underway.

The team at No.34 Garden and Grill on Stratford Road were able to take part in some friendly competition last week which even included an egg and spoon race.

Pub owners Caviar & Chips hosted the event along with its Kenilworth venue, The Virgins and Castle, and will also hold a grand final on August 8 as the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games comes to an end.

Co-founder of the business Marc Hornby said it was the perfect way to get the team inspired for the next ten days of sporting action across the region.

"We're really excited about the Commonwealth Games coming to the Midlands and keen to celebrate the events in Warwickshire.

"We're showing the games at the Virgins and Castle everyday on our TV's and we wanted to get our teams involved too.

"We reminisced about egg and spoon races at school and decided that given both the Virgins & Castle and No.34 both do great breakfasts with eggs on the menu, we should hold our own Commonwealth Games egg and spoon races!

"We do a lot of work with our teams around wellbeing too and so it was a fun way to include physical wellbeing at work.

"We've got our own egg and spoon race final on the last day of the Games and we'll be hosting lots of different events and activities over the coming weeks.

"It's a great excuse to celebrate such a huge event for the region."
