Warwick planning roundup: Urgent repairs, drive thru and local plan update

Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.
Urgent Repairs Withdrawn
An application to complete "urgent" repair works to fix a "dangerous" chimney stack above a row of Warwick eateries has been withdrawn.
Hawkesford (Warwickshire) Limited had applied for permission to repair and remodel the chimney, roof, windows and brickwork at four connected properties along Old Square.
Plans show the works would have addressed a number of structural and cosmetic issues around the grade II listed building, with the properties then redecorated afterwards.

Local Plan Progresses
Planners trying to decide where thousands of houses will be built across South Warwickshire have discounted the idea of spreading them evenly across towns and villages in the region.
As part of the work on the delayed South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP), the district councils have decided not to consider the idea of dispersing the 30,000 new homes evenly across the region.
The idea would have seen each settlement take on a small number of new homes, meaning most of the burden was not placed on one individual town.

Drive Thru Plans
Town councillors have objected to plans to repurpose a closed canalside pub to turn the site into a drive thru coffee shop.
Gentian Leamington Spa Ltd has put forward a scheme to convert the former Waterside pub into a new café - the latest in a string of plans to bring the building back to life.
If approved, there would be 10 EV spaces included, as well as a new drive thru lane built around the Queensway pub.
But members at Leamington Spa Town Council have objected to the application, "due to increased volume of traffic".
