Warwick planning roundup: restaurant extension, council building and pool
By James Smith 4th Jul 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Restaurant Works
Plans for an extension at the back of a Warwick restaurant have been put forward to council planners.
Smith Street Restaurant has applied for planning permission for a single-storey extension which it says will provide more storage space.
The application to Warwick District Council said: "The ground floor is currently in commercial use as a restaurant, whilst the first floor provides residential unit."
Council Building
A council-owned building in Warwick which has been on the market for two years could be turned into a chiropractic and family health centre.
Kenilworth Chiropractic Clinic has applied for the change of use at Northgate House on Northgate in the town centre.
The building has been for sale since 2024, with Warwickshire County Council trying to shift the former training and conference centre.
Paddling Pool
Outdoor paddling pools in Warwick and Leamington are on track to reopen within weeks after delays of more than a year.
Warwick District Council's facilities in St Nicholas Park, Warwick, and Victoria Park, Leamington Spa, were shut for repairs in 2024 and due to reopen in May 2025.
Problems with the upgrade meant the July reopening at Victoria Park was short-lived with the Warwick facility also mothballed until this year.
