Warwick planning roundup: Lift lifting, builder's merchants and roadworks

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Station Lift Lifted
A pre-made lift shaft will be lifted into position at Warwick Railway Station next weekend as part of the ongoing work to improve passenger access.
The steel structure, which was manufactured off-site and delivered to the station last month, will be craned into position overnight on Saturday 7 June while the railway is closed and after the last train has passed through.
The lift shaft will be lifted over the tracks and lowered into place using a 450 tonne crane.
Builder's Merchant
A builder's merchant on the edge of Warwick has been granted permission for an extension despite grumbles from neighbours.
Jewson plans to put up a 7.9-metre high and 30-metre wide open-sided extension at the back of its premises on Rugby Road, off Emscote Road, while also installing a three-metre mesh fence and gating near the front.
The extension will offer covered outdoor storage, while the amendments at the front relate to security.
Roadworks Galore
Roadworks to support a major new housing estate to the south of Warwick and Leamington Spa have begun, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has confirmed.
The major Asps development around Banbury Road and Europa Way will eventually see 900 new homes, a park and ride, a primary school, local centre and open space built.
Developers Taylor Wimpey (Midlands) Ltd and Bloor Homes are pressing ahead with construction in the area.
