Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Major Housing Plans

A planning application has been submitted for 750 new homes between Warwick and Leamington Spa.

Bryer Estates Limited has applied for permission for the major new development on the land at Park Farm, off Banbury Road.

If approved, the scheme would also see a primary school, shop, community hall and public open space built.

Mega-Lab Latest

South Warwickshire locals are set to be kept waiting for details on the next stage of a major planning document which will determine where up to 35,000 new houses will be built in the region.

Already behind schedule, the next step of the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) was due to be published before the end of the year, but will now not come until 2026.

Following another public consultation earlier this year, Warwick and Stratford District Councils have been working together to "prioritise sustainable locations that benefit residents, businesses, and the environment".

Former M&S Plans

Warwick's former M&S could be split into two units having sat empty for four years.

The high street brand closed its store at Westgate House in August 2021, with units two and three sitting empty since.

REI PLC has now applied for planning permission to separate the two units which were joined by Farmfoods in 2001.
