Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Major Housing Estate

Some 360 new houses could be built in a local village if plans are signed off by Warwick District Council.

Taylor Wimpey has applied for planning permission for the major new housing estate at the former Stanks Farm in Hampton Magna.

Half the Old Budbrooke Road site would be affordable homes, and the development would also include "extensive" public open space, community gardens/orchards and play areas.

Quarry Quandary

Villagers and local residents have just a fortnight left to have their say on plans for a major sand and gravel quarry in Barford.

Developer Smiths Concrete has submitted its latest designs for the 90 hectare site which would be built around Wasperton Farm, Wellsesbourne Road.

The submission to Warwickshire County Council is the latest chapter in a long-running saga around the quarry which has been met with fierce resistance from locals, campaigners and local MPs.

Put forward in October last year, comments can be made on the application until Saturday 31 January.

Aldi Car Park Parked

Supermarket giant Aldi has been slammed for trying to open up an access that would make "people step into the traffic" at its Tachbrook Park Drive store.

Safety concerns saw Warwick District Council's planning committee unanimously vote to put on hold a decision on whether Aldi will be allowed to open up to customers a route that is currently for deliveries only.

That restriction formed part of the conditions for the initial build with customers meant to enter the site from a roundabout on Tachbrook Park Drive, one that also serves Leamington Shopping Park on the opposite side of the road.

The delivery-only entrance is a T-junction that connects to Queensway on the opposite side of the Aldi site.
