Warwickshire Police HQ

A second scheme to build 83 houses on the land around Warwickshire Police's Leek Wootton headquarters has been submitted to Warwick District Council.

CALA Homes submitted on original application in March 2022, having purchased the land, including old tennis courts and sports fields, in December last year.

And while a decision is yet to be made on the first proposal, the developer has now put forward a second set of plans.

Bar's Opening Hours

A Warwick bar has been refused permission to stay open for just 30 minutes extra on three days per week after councillors agreed a later closing time would negatively impact local residents.

Planning permission to extend the opening hours at Brogan's Irish Bar - formerly the Iron Works - to 11.30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays had been sought from Warwick District Council.

The application would also have allowed the Market Place venue to stay open into the early hours on Good Friday, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

But councillors at WDC's planning committee meeting unanimously voted against the new closing times.

Hotel to Homes

Another application to turn a grade II listed hotel into homes has been turned down by the council which criticised the poor quality of the design.

Plans to turn the Glebe Hotel in Barford into four houses and four apartments were thrown out by Warwick District Council this month after 35 members of the public objected to the scheme.

High Desert International Limited had already had an application to turn the former rectory into a residential development but said the second application had received more positive feedback from local residents.
