Despite hopes it would reopen today (24 July) Warwick's paddling pool is not expected to open until the end of the month.

A date for the reopening of the St Nicholas' park pool, which has been closed since 2024, was expected this week.

The council has now confirmed the works taking place at the pool are expected to be completed by the end of July,

Warwick District Council shared 'it has been pushing the contractor hard to bring this date forward.'

The council said: "We had hoped that St Nicholas Park Paddling Pool would open to the public today in time for the weekend. Unfortunately, we are unable to do this, as the facility has not been legally handed over to the Council by the contractor with the required certification."

Final checks on the pool and an official handover from the contractor completing the works will take place on Monday 27 July with Leamington's Victoria Park paddling pool to follow on Wednesday 29 July.

The council also highlighted, whilst the St Nicholas Park paddling pool site might look open, it legally remains a construction site and "must not be entered by members of the public until it is officially opened and the gates are unlocked."
