Organisers, Warwick Lions and Warwick Rotary Cub held their nerve last week and went ahead with the fireworks at Warwick Racecourse on Saturday (November 4).

While the ground was too wet for a bonfire and parking on site, the rain held off and crowds headed to the venue's grandstands and bars.

With hot food and drinks selling fast, Sambassadors of Grove livened everyone up, and excited children ran around with flashing swords and wands.

The mayor and sponsors joined organisers to watch a short firework show to Disney themes at 6pm, followed by the spectacular show by Fantastic Fireworks which ended the evening.

Warwick Lions, Warwick Rotary Club and Warwick Racecourse were "delighted" by the turnout.

Neil Chisholm who chaired the Bonfire team said: "We kept our fingers crossed for the weather and it is a relief to have been able to go ahead. Lions and Rotary volunteers work hard and needed a success to continue our charitable work."

Local sponsorship was provided by; Geberit, Bovis Homes, Warwick Startin Kia, Warwickshire Gin, Wenman Healthcare, Delta Marriott hotel and Godfrey Payton, the Warwick Ambulance Association and WARKSAR provided First Aid support and the Air cadets helped to set up.
