Warwick Dragon Boat Festival to return this September

By James Smith 24th Jul 2023

The Warwick Dragon Boat Festival is set to return this September, raising money for two local children's charities.

Rotary Club of Warwick Avon is bringing back its popular community event on Sunday September 24, with up to 26 boats set to hit the River Avon.

Each boat will have up to 16 paddlers and a drummer, with many of the teams coming kitted out in fancy dress.

Heats will see two boats race along the 200 metre course, and every team will take part in at least three races.

The four fastest teams will then battle it out to be crowned the winners.

Costing £400 per team, each competitor is encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as they can.

Funds raised will be split 80 per cent to The Myton Hospices and 20 per cent to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

And there will be a prize for the best dressed team.

With Warwick Boats as partner, all equipment and a safety briefing will be provided, and participants must be able to swim.

Warwick Boats will also provide trained and experienced helmsmen and even practice sessions.
