A wanted man was arrested in Warwick after he unexpectedly cycled past police officers who were at an address waiting to arrest him.

Officers from Warwick Police attended the address today (Wednesday 12 August) to arrest the man in connection with multiple theft offences in Warwick.

As officers knocked on the door, the man they were looking for happened to cycle past.

Police said that after spotting officers outside the address, he attempted to make off on his bike.

However, officers quickly worked together to locate him.

The man was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody in connection with the theft offences.

Warwick Police joked that the man had attempted to "channel his inner Tour de France rider", but said there would be "no yellow jersey waiting at the finish line".
