£30,000 looks set to be ring fenced for a vital repair project to improve accessibility for staff and students at a Warwick school.

One of the lifts at Aylesford School has been out of action for 12 months, leaving the first floor of one of the buildings out of access for some members of the school community.

Warwickshire County Council will next week decide whether to approve the budget to repair the lift.

A council report said: "The school's lift has not been functional for over 12 months.

"This has meant that students and staff with accessibility needs are unable to access the first floor.

"A working lift is vital to the school's everyday operations and ensures pupils can access the full curriculum."

The school hopes to repair the lift during the February half term.

The funding will come from money raised through local housing developers.

A decision will be made on Friday 14 February.
