The county council has signed off on plans to reduce the speed limit on a number of village roads to 20mph.

Changes are set to be made to five roads in Norton Lindsey, following a request by local councillor Jan Matecki.

A public consultation was held last year and the plans were signed off this July by Warwickshire County Council.

The scheme will see the limit on Canada Lane knocked down from national speed limit to 20mph.

The other roads are all currently 30mph.

Those impacted are:

• Canada Lane - National speed limit to 20mph
• Church Road - In its entirety from its junction with Snitterfield Lane.
• Main Street - From its junction with New Road in a northwest direction for 305 metres.
• New Road - From its junction with Main Street northwards for 45 metres.
• Snitterfield Lane - From its junction with Main Street and New Road in a southeast direction for 102 metres.

A council report said: "The reduced speed limit will help improve the environment for vulnerable road users, such as wheelchair users, horse riders, pedestrians and pedal cyclists as there are no footpaths in the village.

"The village has a church and a public house which are used by residents and visitors to Norton Lindsey.

"Motorists will be travelling at a slower speed, and therefore more aware of safety issues when driving through the village."
