Trees and vegetation have been cut back as works on a new housing estate between Warwick and Leamington Spa get underway.

Temporary traffic lights have also been in place along the A452 Europa Way this week as the works continue.

The trees are being felled as work on the new junction for The Asps housing estate is due to start in April.

This will eventually see a new left-in, left-out junction created by winter 2026/27.

The Asps development will see 900 new homes built, alongside a new primary school, a local centre and a park and ride facility with capacity for up to 500 vehicles.

Warwickshire County Council said the tree clearance is "essential" ahead of nesting season in March and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

The signals will cover a 150 metre stretch of road at any one time but will move along the length of the road during the month.

Cllr Jennifer Warren, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: "These works are an important step in delivering the infrastructure needed to support new homes and community facilities in this part of Warwickshire.

"We know that temporary traffic management can be frustrating, and we are grateful to residents and road users for their patience while this essential work is carried out.

"We will continue to do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and to keep people informed as the scheme progresses."

I really hope the council commits to adopting all roads and green spaces on new estates.
When this doesn’t happen, it causes real upset for residents and can devalue new homes. Freeholders end up paying twice — once through Council Tax, and again via private Management Companies.
It’s a situation that feels fundamentally unfair, and frankly a bit of a scandal. If any journalists are looking for a story worth digging into, this is definitely one.
