'Yorkshire Coast Statesman' visits Warwick
Photographs sent to Nub News by Mark Dallas show the 'Yorkshire Coast Statesman' as it made its way through Warwick yesterday (August 9).
The express passed through Warwick and Leamington twice as it made the return trip to Scarborough.
Hauled by two class 47 Diesel Locomotives - 47593 Galloway Princess and 47712 Lady Diana Spencer - stopped off at Warwick Parkway to collect passengers.
The Pullman dining excursion departed from Warwick Parkway at 8.20am on the outbound trip, then again at 8.55pm as it returned south.
Organised by Statesman Rail, tickets for the trip started at £185.
The website said: "Travel on 'The Statesman' celebrated train for a delightful day tour through the heart of England and into Yorkshire to visit the quintessential seaside resort of Scarborough for an afternoon sightseeing break.
"Passing through historic York we cross the River Ouse with the Minster towering over the city, then cross the Vale of York and follow the river Derwent past Kirkham Abbey with views of the North Yorkshire Moors and through the historic market town of Malton to delightful Scarborough for an afternoon break of around three hours."
The Statesman is one of a number of rail specials travelling through the area this month, with 'The Shakespeare Express' travelling through the area every Sunday until September 3
