An 18-year-old has been charged with drink driving after a crash on the M40 near Gaydon on Sunday (March 17).

Officers from Warwickshire's operational patrol unit were called to the smash at the junction 12 southbound exit in the morning where the teenage girl is said to have lost control of her Mercedes and hit another car as well as post.

She failed a roadside breath test and was charged with driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol.

An OPU spokesperson said: "The driver of the white Mercedes lost control colliding with a traffic light post and a BMW travelling on the Gaydon Road.

"The driver of the Mercedes, an 18-year-old female from Wolverhampton, was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

"The female was taken into custody and has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol after providing a breath sample of 76ug.

"Thankfully no one was injured and we arranged recovery of both vehicles."
