Subway at Warwick station to close for six months
The subway at Warwick Station is set to close for six months as works on the new lifts progress.
Network Rail has recently seen its updated plans for the 'Access for All' scheme approved after the discovery of Victorian building remains where the new shafts were to be built put the breaks on the scheme.
But with works now resumed on site, locals have been advised the subway between the platforms will close from September 6 until 5 March 2025.
Work will also continue on site in the day and night times.
"Network Rail are pleased to notify you that the Warwick Access For All project is continuing with work," a letter to residents said.
"In order to do necessary preparation work for the lift installation, we need to shut the station subway from 6 September 2024 until 5 March 2025.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this necessary closure and please ask residents and passengers to follow the sign posted and lit diversionary walking route to access both platforms at he station."
Work on site will include diverting cables, dismantling the station roof, part of the station building, removing the subway stairs, excavating the shafts and tehn rebuilding the building and stairs.
Network Rail said it will "make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise and dust" during the upcoming months.
