Forming relationships and being honest with customers is the secret to success for a pawnbroker in Leamington Spa which is nearing 15 years trading on Parade. 

Cashbrokers was opened in May 2011 offering a wide range of services including pawnbroking, travel money, cash for gold, 28-day buy-back and of course selling a wide range of preowned jewellery, watches and tech. 

Over the past decade and a half the town-centre business has built a strong relationship with the local community and even has a large number of clients who travel from across Warwickshire and beyond to access its services. 

"We have always been consistent with customers and the service we offer," owner Matthew Bromley told Nub News.

"As a form of short-term financing I really believe in pawnbroking – it is used by huge variety of people from a range of backgrounds, from business owners looking for quick cash flow solutions, to working families looking to bridge the gap until payday. 

"We talk openly with our customers, and we are flexible with them - we work with people to ensure the best possible outcome for their needs.

"People may have a stereotype of pawnbrokers ripping people off, but that is simply not true - we are all about building relationships with our customers and the community." 

What is Pawnbroking? 

The business is also eager to dispel a number of misconceptions around pawnbroking, as it looks to reach out to more clients, particularly those who have never used a pawnbroker before.

Customers can borrow up to £50,000 from Cashbrokers in as little as 10 minutes, secured against an item of value such as jewellery, gold or watches. Interest rates range from three to nine per cent, depending on the loan amount. 

If the loan is not repaid, then the item is simply sold to repay pay the loan in full with no further consequences - but the pawnbroker cannot make a profit above what is owed, beyond the loan amount, interest and costs of sale. 

"If we have to sell an item, once the loan amount, the interest and the fees are covered, the customer will then receive the difference, the 'surplus'," Matt explained. 

"And if we don't make the money back, that's our loss, not the customer's."

There are no credit checks involved, and customers almost always receive their money while they wait. 

As long as the goods belong to the customer and are not financed, Cashbrokers will make you an offer for it, with loans often more affordable than other short-term borrowing options. 

Matt added: "Compared to some loans, overdrafts and pay-day borrowing we are regularly cheaper, which is better for customers. 

"We are also 100% confidential, so nobody ever needs to know you have been here. 

"And if you never come back here again to retrieve your goods, it doesn't matter." 

Other Services
