A local distillery has launched a new gin to mark the celebrations around the coronation of King Charles III.

The King will be crowned, alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, on Saturday, 6 May at Westminster Abbey.

The team at Shakespeare Distillery have crafted a completely new dry gin which has taken inspiration from the gin and dubonnet beloved by the late Queen and Queen Mother.

The independent artisan spirit producer has combined flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica.

Shakespeare suggests serving with Fever-tree Tonic or Fever-tree Light Indian tonic water, ice, and a slice of orange.

Simon Picken, director at Shakespeare Distillery said: "We're delighted to launch our special Coronation Gin in time for gin fans to enjoy a tipple whilst celebrating the King's Coronation.

"The Coronation festivities will span three whole days in May, featuring two epic processions, a religious service, and a star-studded concert at Windsor Castle.

"It is well known that the late Queen and Queen Mother were both fans of dubonnet and gin so I hope King Charles will approve of our new addition."
